On Friday, the Reception class enjoyed a wonderful adventure at Bockett’s Farm. Their day began in the animal encounters area, where they gently petted a large, fluffy rabbit, two cuddly guinea pigs, and a silky chicken. The children then climbed aboard a tractor for a bumpy ride up the hill. Along the way, they spotted flocks of sheep and lambs, herds of cows (including a huge bull!), and even some pigs enjoying their brunch in the forest. They also explored the barn and learned some fascinating animal facts from the farmer.

After a picnic lunch, the excitement continued with the pig race, where the children enthusiastically cheered on their favourite-coloured pig. Next, they visited the farmer’s garden and discovered the herbs and vegetables being grown for the café, learning more about where their food comes from. Later, they returned to the barn to feed the animals, with the very hungry sheep and goats proving especially popular!

A big thank you to our parent helpers for supporting us and helping to make this such a fantastic trip.

Next week, we will continue our farm topic by exploring “farm to fork,” learning about the foods we enjoy and where they originate.
