We also enjoyed reading the much-loved flap book, ‘Dear Zoo’ by Rod Campbell and relished lifting flaps to reveal different animals. We all got a surprise as we retold the story with the small world  zoo and wild animals with the children enjoying sharing fun facts and reasons for either keeping or returning the animals to the zoo! Fabulous illustrations accompanied their individual written pages for our class story book – they particularly enjoy attaching a flap on their crate to hide their chosen animal.

On Tuesday, we took part in a fantastic ‘Healthy Food’ workshop organised by our friends at Chartwells who work in the school kitchens. Marnie the food nutritionist taught us about different food groups, and we were able to try some fruit and vegetables. We had to ‘Look at it, smell it, lick it and taste it!’. We all enjoyed putting our taste buds to the test! We watched ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and made some caterpillar inspired wraps, which we took home for our tea. We enjoyed our workshops immensely and thank our friends at Chartwells for giving us such a lovely treat!

In maths this week, we have been counting up and down the number line to 20. We also worked together as a class ordering the numbers to 22, as we each held a number. We managed to order ourselves correctly both from 0 to 21 and backwards from 21 to 0. We have also been telling the time o’clock and half past.

Next week our topic will be the fabulous story ‘Stick man’ by Julia Donaldson and Christmas trees!
