We read the book, ‘The Colour Monster’ by Anna Llenas which led to an exciting afternoon of colour mixing with paint, which we all thoroughly enjoyed!  The children used pipettes to suck up coloured water which they then used to squeeze droplets – and waited and watched as the water dispersed the colours and made new colours.

We had a puzzling time on Thursday as we enjoyed completing very tricky jigsaws with a partner. It was fantastic to see the children working together problem solving. Jigsaws are particularly good for your brain, improving not only cognition but also spatial reasoning!

In mathematics, we have been looking at symmetry – in particular, symmetry in nature. We had fun designing symmetrical butterflies. We also enjoyed thinking about mathematics in art; we painted dots with poster paints and doubled them by printing!

Next week, we will be thinking about the topics Colour and Summer. We look forward to seeing you at our Open Classroom on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm!
