On Tuesday, Reception enjoyed a handwashing workshop from the school nurse. Nurse Liz taught us how important it is to wash our hands to remove germs. She brought along a very special light and glitter soap which showed up germs, before we washed our hands very thoroughly with soap and water. We tested our handwashing skills, checking if our hands were completely clean. We noticed that we especially had to clean our nails and wrists, as this was where germs tended to lurk! We all enjoyed singing the ‘Super Soap’ song to remind us to wash our hands thoroughly. On Friday, we enjoyed a ‘Soaper’ Hero Cosmic Kids Yoga to recap on our learning – fighting the icky sticky germs; we all enjoyed making super hero poses!

In mathematics, we have been ordering numbers and working at forming the number four correctly. We have also been enjoying making repeat patterns in our play and in our art and crafts. In our phonics sessions, we have continued developing our blending skills, as well as learning the correct formation of letters /p/, /i/ and /n/.

We finished the week with our first class assembly about our recent topic ‘Marvellous Me!’ and imparted our knowledge about being unique and special, eating healthily, exercising and being a good friend! We were very proud at how beautifully all the children participated – well done, Reception!

Thank you to all the parents who joined us at Thursday’s reading evening. It was a pleasure to talk to you all about supporting your child’s literacy journey. Here is a link to the pure sounds, as promised!

Next week our topic is ‘A healthy plate’, we will be thinking about the importance of a balanced diet.
