Year 6 pupils put their engineering skills to the test as they designed, built and launched their own water-powered rockets.

Working in teams of two, the pupils transformed large plastic bottles into rockets by attaching carefully designed wings and adding a tennis ball to the base for stability. Once their creations were complete, the countdown to launch began.

Each rocket was partially filled with water before being sealed with a cork. A nozzle connected to a pump was then inserted into the cork, allowing air to be forced into the bottle. As the pressure built, excitement and anticipation grew among the pupils watching.

With a dramatic pop, the cork blasted free and the rockets soared skywards, propelled by the force of the escaping water. Guided by Mr Salt, who helped oversee the launches, the pupils watched in amazement as their creations shot overhead, with some reaching impressive heights and drawing cheers from their classmates!
