Not to be left out, parents embraced the occasion with their usual enthusiasm in the parents’ races. Thankfully, there were no injuries to report, although there may well have been a few aching legs the following morning! The staff race was equally competitive, with Mr Martin striding to victory in impressive fashion.
Balance and agility then took centre stage in the traditional egg and spoon races before attention turned to the House competitions. With points still up for grabs, the boys joined forces for the tug of war and cricket ball throw. The tug of war provided a fantastic spectacle, with teams of 18 boys pulling together as they battled for House pride. Meanwhile, the cricket ball throw saw some remarkable distances achieved, while spectators expertly avoided a handful of wayward efforts!
The afternoon concluded with the ever-exciting cone collection relay. Tudor emerged victorious in this final event, but it was not enough to deny Lancaster, whose consistently strong performances throughout the day saw them claim the Sports Day Shield in convincing fashion.
Congratulations to Lancaster and well done to every pupil who contributed to a wonderful celebration of sport, teamwork and House spirit.
