The following day, we played a T20 against their U12 team. Once again, we batted first, with Ronak scoring a brilliant 50 (off the final ball of the innings, earning MoM) and Thomas adding a valuable 29 runs. Defending our score of 140, our bowlers did a great job and dismissed the opponents for 38 runs, with Cullan, Will, Bertie, and Viaan each taking two wickets.
On the last day of the tour, we enjoyed a fun and friendly mixed pairs match with their U11 team. Even though our team lost, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the game. The tour concluded with a delicious barbecue lunch and cakes for dessert, the perfect meal after a sunny morning of cricket.
A special mention must go to our wonderful host families, who were incredibly welcoming and ensured we felt completely at home. Their thoughtful arrangements for our two-night stay at their homes made the experience even more fun and comfortable.
Back home, our U11 As played Kings College on Monday. We lost the toss and were put into bowl. We started off really well, restricting them to 23-2 after 8 overs. However, their number 3 and 4 batters were playing well and from then on, they started to up the run rate and our fielding started to get a bit sloppy, resulting in one of their players gaining a score of 72. In the end they finished their innings with a good score of 134.
We started of our batting innings well, however the match came down to the wire with us needing 17 runs from 18 balls. We eventually won, which put us into the Semi-Finals of the Verney Cup against Surbiton.
We look forward to Sports Day on Monday at Hampton Senior School, 1:30 pm – 3:30pm. A reminder that all boys should come to school wearing House T-shirts, white PE shorts and socks and white trainers. They should also have sun cream applied, a water bottle and hat. The forecast is thankfully predicting a cooler, cloudier afternoon than we’ve been having. Parents can arrive on-site at Hampton from 1:00pm. The programme will be sent out on Monday morning.
