The Hammond Theatre became a vibrant jungle setting, as Years 3 and 4 transported the audience to The Jungle Book. The production brimming with colour, confidence and infectious energy – a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.
The characterisation throughout was a real highlight. Mowgli radiated adventurous spark, Baloo charmed the audience with easy-going warmth, and Shere Khan commanded the stage with a genuine sense of menace. Kaa’s hypnotic moves delighted the crowd, and every performer threw themselves into their role. The stage was filled with a veritable rainbow of characters, all watched over by a quarrelsome couple of comedy kites!
The audience watched transfixed, as Mowgli was kidnapped by a band of mischievous monkeys and threatened by wolves that he had always considered family. If there was one moment that brought the house down, it was the King of the Jungle finale – a showstopping climax that had the entire audience buzzing long after the last, well-deserved boy had been taken.
Head of Music and Drama, Miss Bee, congratulated all pupils involved in bring the production to life:
Watching these children step onto the stage and truly own it was something special. The commitment and joy in every performance made this one of our most memorable productions yet. I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of our boys.
Colourful costumes helped each role leap off the stage, and the children performed with a confidence that sparkled far beyond their years. A joyful, polished evening of theatre – the jungle was very much alive at Hampton Prep.
