Our focus in maths has been on strengthening our understanding of the greater than (>) and less than (<) symbols. Through fun activities and the help of our hungry ‘crocodiles’—who always chomp the bigger number — we’ve built confidence in comparing values and using these symbols in equations. Next week, we’ll be venturing onto the number line to explore numerical order and positioning.
In humanities, we’ve been learning about cardinal directions (the four primary points on a compass: north, east, south and west) and how to use them to navigate maps. The children applied their knowledge by designing their own ‘Royal Palace’ maps, carefully placing landmarks using these compass points. To help us remember the directions, we’ve been using the catchy mnemonic: Naughty Elephants Squirt Water — a fun and memorable way to recall North, East, South, and West!
Wishing you all a super weekend!
