To make our learning more practical and engaging, the children had the opportunity to move around the classroom to find different objects to weigh. They enjoyed choosing items, predicting which might be heavier or lighter, and then testing their ideas using the scales. There were lots of great discussions as the children compared their results and thought carefully about the differences between the objects they measured. Everyone worked very hard and showed excellent curiosity while exploring this new topic. I’m sure you may find them wanting to weigh a few things at home over the weekend!
In preparation for our trip to the zoo next week, we have also been doing some animal research in class. The children have been creating fact files about lemurs and meerkats, learning about their habitats, diets, and some of their most interesting features. They discovered some fascinating facts, including what these animals like to eat and the environments they live in. The class has really enjoyed becoming animal experts and sharing what they have learned with each other.
The excitement for our upcoming zoo trip is certainly building, and the children are very much looking forward to seeing some of the animals in real life next week on Thursday 19th March. It has been a wonderful week of learning, curiosity, and preparation for what should be a very exciting visit to Hanwell Zoo!
As part of our science learning about plants and their different features, we would like to ask each child to bring in a leaf on Monday. We will be analysing the leaves together in class and exploring their different qualities, such as shape, texture, and patterns.
Thank you for all your support.
