In maths we have switched our focus to subtraction, breaking numbers into their parts to support this. The children were able to link addition and subtraction facts for the first time, creating fact families. Number bond knowledge is really supporting them with the speed and agility of calculation. It is fascinating to see how well some of the children are able to explain their mathematical thinking, both verbally and in writing.

In our science lesson, the children enjoyed learning about the different dietary needs of pets and other animals, learning all about carnivore, herbivore and omnivore diets. They started to sort animals based on their diet.

In computing this half term, the children have been learning to create animated story books on the Purple Mash platform.  They have been perfecting their story telling skills by combining words, pictures, animation and sound.  It has been a thoroughly exciting time and the results are original and a lot of fun to experience!
