In mathematics, we have been focusing on counting back, making use of our number bond knowledge to 10 to help calculate when crossing the 10. We have continued to use a variety of concrete resources. The children finished the week by confidently making number families, using the part whole model and the bar model.
In science, Year 1 continued their work on magnets. We used a variety of objects to predict and test whether they were magnetic or not which was a lot of fun. Who knew that older 10 pence pieces are not magnetic, whereas newer version are?
One of the highlights of the week was paying a visit to Kindergarten to read them our African Counting stories which we wrote earlier this term. What a lovely way to celebrate their book making and for Kindergarten to count with their new Year 1 friends!
