In maths, we have been deepening our understanding of number bonds to 20. We worked on quick recall of these facts, and looked at the bonds we already know to 10, to help us with bonds to 20. For example, If I know that 6 + 4 = 10, what else do I know? I know that 16 + 4 = 20, and I know that 6 + 14 = 20. After half term, we will be looking at a range of different strategies to work out subtraction sums.

In science, we completed our materials topic by tinkering with a range of materials in order to build a sturdy house for The Three Little Pigs!  We used a combination of cocktail sticks, marshmallows, Lego bricks, and bundles of straws to build our constructions.  We tested to see whether the pigs fitted inside the house, whether the house had a roof and whether it withstood the huff and puff of the wolf! As you can see from our photos, we had great fun and lots of success!

We have had an action packed half term and seen so much progress with the children’s learning.  Have a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing you all fresh and raring to go on 20th February!
