In English we have continued reading the class text: “Look Up” by Nathan Bryon. Rocket, the main character, is desperate to follow in the footsteps of her heroine, Mae Jemison – the first black woman to travel into space. Drawing on our recent work creating fact files for African animals, the children have been busy researching facts to create their own fact files for Mae Jemison.  We learnt that she was also a gifted dancer, a qualified doctor, and that she was in fact afraid of heights! What an inspirational woman!

In science we are all on countdown to carry out our experiment in order to find the best material to insulate an astronaut’s glove.  This week we planned our experiment – talking about the types of materials we will test, the importance of making it a fair test, and recording our predictions. We will report back our findings next week!
