They also thoroughly enjoyed all the excitement and activity in preparation for Sports Day! The children were keen to participate, and did themselves proud on the day; what a great bunch of scientists we have in Year 1.
On Tuesday we had great fun at the VR Space workshop; they really impressed and amazed the leader, Adam, with the wealth of information retained from their visit to Winchester Science Museum last half term and, of course, gained during our topic work in class, too!
In maths we have been extending our knowledge of multiples of 10, recognising the efficiency of counting in groups of 10 as opposed to ones.
In humanities we have been stepping back in time seeing how seaside holidays have changed over time. We loved looking at black and white photos of the past, and couldn’t believe the number of garments worn to swim in the sea in times gone by – and what’s more the special carriages that were pulled into the sea by horses to give women more privacy during the Victorian age.
