Year 1 took their learning outdoors with a visit to Carlisle Park, where they explored the changing signs of autumn.
The children set off on an autumn colour hunt, looking carefully for shades of red, yellow and brown amongst the trees and leaves. They also explored the different textures they could find on the trees, using their senses to investigate the woodland environment.
There was plenty to discover along the way, with the children collecting seeds, twigs, conkers, pine needles and, of course, pine cones! They were particularly excited to spot lots of feathers during their exploration, adding another interesting find to their collection of natural treasures.
The morning ended with a reading of A House in the Woods, a charming picture book written and illustrated by Inga Moore, which follows a beaver preparing for the changing seasons. It was a lovely way to bring their autumn adventure to a close.
