In maths, the children have completed the “Statistics” unit of learning. This week, focus has been on drawing and interpreting pictograms, where the symbols represent 1, 2, 5 or 10 items. Throughout the week, the children enthusiastically handled increasingly complex data, making good use of a range of number fact knowledge to support their workings out. Next week we will be moving on to geometry.
In science, the leaning has moved onto Plants and, this week, the children used their observation skills to describe and identify seeds. Careful observational drawings were made of the seeds of sunflowers, broad beans, climbing beans and nasturtium. By the end of the lesson, they recognised that different seeds grow into different plants.
Next week, the children are looking forward to moving up day on Monday, as well as starting to create their rainforest diorama.
Have a great weekend!
