Using base 10 equipment, they tackled calculations that required exchanging 1 ten for 10 ones to complete both addition and subtraction equations. They demonstrated great determination and excellent partitioning skills throughout.

English: Having completed our diary entries as Lila — expressing her thoughts and feelings about the magical Secret of Rain — the children have now embarked on a new key text: Mama Panya’sPancakes by Mary and Rich Chamberlin. This delightful African story celebrates the rewards of sharing and carries a universal message. Along the way, the children have been learning about verbs, including imperative verbs, in preparation for writing their very own set of instructions to make pancakes next week!

In our humanities lessons, the children have impressed us with the incredible amount of knowledge they’ve gained about the African continent. This week, our geographical enquiry focused on the human and physical features of Rusuzumiro, Rwanda. Next, we’ll be comparing these features with those of our own locality — Hampton.

Our exploration of African-themed art with Mrs Murphy continues to inspire creativity. So far, the children have sketched elegant giraffes in pencil, painted striking lion portraits, and created bold, stripy zebras.

A huge congratulations to the children for successfully filling their marble jar! We celebrated with a fun-filled afternoon of arts & crafts and a movie.

Rehearsals for the Christmas production are going well — thank you for supporting your children with learning their lines.

Wishing you all a relaxing and fun weekend!
