In mathematics, the children explored the 2 times table in a variety of ways, using multiple representations. They worked with concrete resources, number tracks, number lines and bar models. Building on this, they applied their understanding of the 2 times table to divide by 2, carefully distinguishing between the grouping and sharing structures of division. They also identified patterns when doubling and halving whole numbers, making the important connection that doubling a number is the same as multiplying by 2, while halving is equivalent to dividing by 2.
The focus of our RE unit on Judaism this week centred around the religious items that can be found in Jewish homes. The children enjoyed handling some religious replica artefacts and learning about their uses in the home and how they are used for different rituals or celebrations.
Congratulations to the whole class for filling another jar full of marbles and earning themselves a special marble treat afternoon! They enjoyed a carousel of fun activities in the classroom and in the hall. Keep up the super work, Year 2.
