In mathematics, the children continued their learning about volume and capacity. They have also been working on a range of “brain teasers” – working systematically and methodically to spot patterns and solve multi-step questions.
In English, Year 2 have been writing their own adventures with Bob, The Man on the Moon, inspired by Simon Bartram’s brilliant series of books. Making excellent use of their planning documents, they wrote some exciting story openers, and some even completed their entire stories!
In science and life skills, Year 2 have been learning about health and growth. This week, they focused on the different food groups that provide our bodies and brains with essential nutrients to stay healthy and happy. We have also enjoyed taking part in 10-minute workouts designed and filmed by members of Year 2 – these movement breaks are much loved, and we shall all be super fit in time for Easter!
We are looking forward to our trip to Windsor Castle next Monday, when the children will embark on a journey back in time, learning about what life was like for Queen Victoria at the castle. We will be exploring the State Apartments, Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, and St George’s Chapel, as well as taking part in a workshop entitled, “Queen Victoria: Dear Diary.” The children will also have the opportunity to dress up as rich and poor Victorians, as well as the royals themselves!
Have a wonderful weekend!
