In geography we have continued with our African theme looking human and physical features in this continent and closer to home in Hampton, and in RE we have been learning about the Muslim festival Eid.

The children completed their science topic – movement and forces – by testing which size parachute would fall the quickest.  They discovered that the larger the parachute, the longer it took to fall.  This was because there is more air resistance.  We decided as a class that there were many variables which affected the results: the differing wind strength, length of the parachute’s strings, size of Lego parachute jumper, number of people holding the parachute to name but a few. However, the greatest factor was the size of the parachute.

Year 2 have had a productive first week back and are very excited about the forthcoming African workshop, taking place on Monday at the Prep!
