Year 4 stepped back in time at Hampton Court Palace. Pupils stepped into the fascinating world of Tudor England through a range of interactive and immersive experiences.
A particular highlight was meeting an Elizabethan deckhand named John, who brought the Age of Exploration to life. Through engaging storytelling, the children learned how voyages of discovery introduced new and exotic trade goods to England, including spices, gemstones, animal products and foods from across the globe.
The children then toured the palace, exploring some of its most iconic spaces, including the magnificent Great Hall and the historic Tudor kitchens. The blazing fire gave them an insight into what life would be like for a ‘spit-boy’ preparing meat for Henry VIII’s entourage. These impressive settings helped them to vividly imagine life during the reign of Henry VIII.
Outside, the boys explored the beautiful grounds, visiting both the flower and vegetable gardens before enjoying a fun Easter egg hunt around the palace. They also watched a game of real tennis, offering a fascinating glimpse into a traditional Tudor sport that is still played today.
The boys fully embraced the experience, making the most of the palace’s interactive trails and rich historical surroundings.
