Year 5 combined healthy eating as pupils took part in an energetic Smoothie Bike workshop.

Pupils generated their own power by pedalling to spin the blender and create a range of delicious smoothies. The bike whirred into action as fruit was transformed into refreshing drinks. The activity was an interactive way to explore healthy eating while also learning about energy and how physical movement can be used to power everyday objects.

Pupils were able to choose from a colourful selection of ingredients including apples, bananas, strawberries, oranges and spinach, experimenting with different combinations to create their own fruity blends. Strawberries quickly became the star ingredient of the morning, with many pupils producing bright pink smoothies that looked as good as they tasted.

The workshop also showed pupils that the faster they pedalled, the quicker their smoothies blended, leading to plenty of determined cycling and enthusiastic cheering. There was lots of laughter and excitement as everyone took turns on the bike, comparing their fruity creations and celebrating their berry impressive results.
