Year 5 enjoyed a highly successful residential trip to the Isle of Wight, characterised by excellent behaviour, strong teamwork and a willingness to embrace new challenges. The boys approached every activity with enthusiasm, making the most of the opportunities presented to them throughout the week.
After a smooth journey and pleasant ferry crossing, the boys settled quickly into their surroundings and began their first afternoon at the Aqua Park. This proved to be an excellent start to the trip, with pupils demonstrating resilience, cooperation and a readiness to try something new. Later in the day, the boys enjoyed time on the nearby beach, exploring the shoreline, searching for crabs and collecting shells.
The second day offered a range of outdoor activities designed to develop confidence, independence and teamwork. Surfing was a particular highlight, with many boys showing impressive progress and a positive attitude throughout the session. The day concluded with a lively game of pirate‑themed crazy golf.
On the final morning, the boys took part in tree climbing in a beautiful 300‑year‑old tree. This activity encouraged courage, trust and perseverance, and the boys rose to the challenge admirably. They also enjoyed orienteering, vortex golf and group games such as charades and Uno before beginning their journey back to the mainland.
A Year 5 pupil commented:
The trip was the highlight of my year so far – it was so much fun!
Madame Houghton and Ms Busby added:
The boys have been an absolute pleasure. They have embraced every opportunity, supported one another and shown a fantastic attitude throughout the trip
