Our U10 pupils embarked on an unforgettable Sports Tour to Bristol – undoubtedly one of the highlights of the term. The tour began at the impressive Bristol Grammar School Sports Grounds, where the boys took to the football pitches with enthusiasm and confidence.
Drawing on everything they had learned during the autumn term, all four teams (A–D) competed in closely fought matches that showcased both skill and teamwork. There were well-earned victories for the A and B teams, while the C and D teams experienced narrow defeats. Regardless of results, the focus remained firmly on enjoyment, effort, and playing free-flowing football in the sunshine.
After an exciting afternoon on the pitch, the boys swapped football boots for bowling shoes, putting their hand – eye coordination to the test at the ten-pin alley. The evening continued with an overnight stay in the heart of Bristol, where a scenic walk around the historic harbour provided a chance to relax and take in the sights after a busy first day.
The next morning brought a new challenge as the group travelled to Kingswood School for their first-ever hockey fixture. Facing a school where hockey is a major sport, the boys rose to the occasion with determination and resilience, demonstrating excellent attitude and perseverance throughout a tough but rewarding match.
The tour concluded in memorable fashion at Twickenham Stoop Stadium, where the boys watched Harlequins take on Gloucester Rugby. The excitement of live professional sport, combined with a special halftime shout-out, made for a fantastic end to the trip.
After 36 hours packed with sport, laughter, and new experiences, the boys returned to school tired but happy – bringing with them great memories and a real sense of achievement.
