We explored the poem’s structure, noticing how it uses questions and responses to create a gentle rhythm and flow. We looked closely how to spell those tricky question words, noticing that many began with wh. We also had fun spotting question marks within the text. Next week, building on this, the children will have a chance to write their own questions, remembering that all-important question mark.
This week in maths, we’ve been exploring shapes! The children have been busy recognising and sorting both 2D and 3D shapes, using hands-on activities to deepen their understanding. We discussed different ways to sort shapes based on their properties, such as the number of sides or faces. We went on a fun shape hunt around the school to see the shapes we could spot in our environment.
In science, we were thrilled to become young investigators as we tested a variety of materials for their waterproof qualities. Our mission? To find the best material to make an umbrella for Lulu our class lion! We worked together in teams, talked about how to make it a fair test, and thought carefully about the best way to record our results. It was a fantastic opportunity to combine teamwork with scientific thinking!
