I think it is fair to say that all schools are busy places; here at the Prep this is certainly true. Reflecting on the week it truly feels as though this week was a particularly busy one with lots of engaging, challenging and exciting events!
4E, guided by Mr Eliot, provided a thought-provoking assembly reminding us of leaders from the past that are regarded as highly influential. The boys spoke with such confidence which was matched by how articulate and intelligently they presented their material to us all. Well done, boys! This was our second assembly of the week after Mme Houghton kicked off our European Day of Languages on Tuesday morning, challenging all teachers to think about how they may include different languages in their lessons throughout the day. Ms Busby took the honours, as voted by the boys!
Our Year 6 boys, already in a busy term, kick started their week with their 11+ mocks – all boys approached it in the right spirit and were able to explain what they gained from sitting a mock paper. A good number then demonstrated their leadership skills by ably assisting Miss Bee in her Year 2 Thrilling Theatrical workshop where we were joined by lots of local primary schools.
Bringing their history studies to life, Year 3 enjoyed a Stone Age workshop in the James Hall. The gentleman running the workshop commented on how engaged Year 3 were throughout the morning. And finally, today, we have been joined by our friends from Elizabeth College Junior School, Guernsey, who are here for their annual football tour; this caps off a busy week of football fixtures with lots of teams in action and fixtures on every sports afternoon.
A busy week indeed, and an excellent reminder of how much learning takes place outside of the classroom at our school. This is very important to us here and something we are proud to be very conscious of when organising school life.
