This week, the very merry Christmas atmosphere arising from the various festive events that have already taken place certainly brightened our hearts and lightened our steps at both the Pre-Prep & Prep! In amongst it all, the Year 6 boys managed to tie off exploring what ‘being inward facing’ means, our assembly theme for this half term. The boys in 6S set out how to live a life full of meaning by comparing the plot twists and turns in the recently released Disney hit ‘Moana’ with the work of Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist, philosopher, author, and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl. It was an inspired and utterly unique assembly, with plenty of high-level, thought-provoking aspects for us all to consider. The boys in 6B followed this up beautifully the very next day by sharing how much more meaningful they know their lives to be when they make the time and effort to be truly grateful. They shared both the tangible and somewhat more ephemeral elements of their lives they are thankful for, especially at this time of year when numbers of us will enjoy an abundance of all things good whilst many others throughout society will not. I am thankful that I am able to spend my working days in the company of such impressive and mindful young fellows!
