We love an excuse to dress up here, and today’s terrific ‘1920s Theme Day’ expertly curated by Miss Bee and Mrs Sunderland (huge thanks to them both) was no exception! The day is naturally referencing our Centenary, and was a perfect opportunity to introduce pupils here to the life and times of our society as it was more or less 100 years ago. There were workshops in the Prep covering history, a bit of politics, music, art, drama and how technology was used in the 1920s, all ably led by the teaching staff in their 1920s garb. A highlight of today has to be the dance workshops! Everyone learnt a version of the Charleston, the dance craze that was much loved by ‘the Bright Young Things’ as I believe the party set were known in the ‘Roaring ‘20s’. I recommend you put some 1920s music on and then please ask your children to teach it to you at home tonight!
