This morning in the Prep we were treated to an excellent assembly from Mrs Sunderland and a selection of boys from Year 6, in preparation for Remembrance Sunday taking place this weekend. We learnt about the background to the commissioning of the Cenotaph, which stands in Whitehall. It is of course the focal point in many ways for how we choose, as a nation, to commemorate the lives of those who gave up their freedom so that we may enjoy as much ourselves today. We also held our own annual Act of Remembrance at the Prep, with pupils from Year 2 joining us onsite at 11.00am. The Head Boy, the Deputy Head Boy and I then went to place one of our wreaths at the Hampton War Memorial Cottages. This morning, as ever, as part of our Act of Remembrance it was very moving to hear the Year 6 boys read aloud the names of the gentlemen who were pupils at our school who lost their lives in service to the nation.
We shall remember them.
