What a lot of head scratching there was from Year 5 parents and all of us in assembly this morning as 5J beautifully married together aspects of their discussions on global religious beliefs and their study of ‘ethics’ from their philosophy lessons! There were personal insights, strong expressions of personal emotion and plenty of wisdom and guidance for us all to consider, boys in the audience in Year 3 right through to the adults sitting with us in the James Hall included. The highly sophisticated ideas the boys laid out for us were organised such that they were accessible for everyone on some level, which is a skill in itself I would say. Encouraging the expression of higher order thinking skills – with confidence and verve – is exactly what our assembly programme is all about here.
