I am Sam Wiggins and I am the Headmaster for the day at Hampton Pre-Prep & Prep. Being Headmaster has made me feel quite powerful but not in a bad way! The day has been quite stressful but also very good fun and I have enjoyed it a lot at the same time. For me, I did not expect this but people have been very nice to me and have called me “Sir”. I also noticed that time flies by when you are the Headmaster!
My first session of the day was being in charge of assembly. I was a bit nervous but I think I got on with it quite well. I said good morning to everybody and I gave out certificates at the end. My Deputy Headmaster Mr Ford said I was an upgrade on the normal Headmaster!
At one point today when I went in to the school office I was amazed to see Miss Slattery and Miss O’Brien counting money. Today at school we were raising money by wearing what we wanted and we were raising it for Turkey and Syria, following the destructive, devastating earthquakes. We raised £710.95 and this money will go to the British Red Cross.
I also went to the Pre-Prep to read a story to the entire school, class by class. I think they listened very well and they didn’t interrupt me. They had very good manners and said good morning and goodbye in a very polite way.
I had a very good ‘Headmaster’s Lunch’. A few days ago, I invited some friends to join me. The food was pizza and chocolate brownies, which were delicious! All of my friends enjoyed it and we had a good time. Overall, being the Headmaster for the Day can be both challenging but also very entertaining!
