Alongside my role as Head here, I am a governor in two other schools, one of them independent and the other state-maintained. I am especially glad to govern at Richard Cobden Primary School in Camden Town in central London. The school has just admitted a good number of children who have recently arrived in the UK as refugees from Afghanistan. These children and their parents are currently being housed in temporary accommodation. The children come from varied backgrounds, but what they do have in common is families who respect and greatly value education and are keen for them to learn in school. My colleagues at Richard Cobden Primary have no real idea how long the families will be in their current accommodation, but however short or long their time is at the school, they are delighted to be working with them to help settle them into their new lives in the UK. To that end, a Just Giving page has been set up by the Leadership Team at Richard Cobden Primary. All proceeds will be used to provide vouchers for the refugee families for winter clothes/shoes and other items to help their children succeed at school etc. I include the link below, in case any Hampton Prep families wished to contribute. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
